Risk-based approval

• A bill of materials, construction specification, foreseeable-use assessment and traceability plan are required.
• An accredited laboratory determines applicable standards and tests for the destination.
• Mass production requires an approved sample, frozen specification and supplier change control.
• CE, UKCA or other marks are used only when the applicable law and evidence support them.

Product-specific controls

Magnets require secure fixation and review of small-part and ingestion hazards. Parcel openers require blade-exposure, return or locking, misuse and carrier reviews and are not marketed to children. Cables require product classification before electrical, chemical and waste obligations can be determined.

Traceability and incidents

Products or packaging identify the responsible businesses and batch as required. Complaints, test results and incidents are monitored. Potential hazards trigger shipment and inventory controls, regulator-reporting assessment and corrective action or recall. U.S. businesses may have a duty to report qualifying information to the CPSC within 24 hours.
